On Board Air Install

I bought a Viair 460 C, 3 gallon air tank, and a Viair switch. The rest of the parts were bought at Lowes and Auto Zone.

The 460C is a 100% duty cycle compressor. I added the tank just to be able to give the compressor a break and to run air tools. The Viair switch turns the pump on at 110 psi and off at 150 psi. The pressure switch is very compact (a third of the size of ones you can get at granger) and its water proof.

Ed (our resident fab guy) built a nice platform out of some sheets of aluminum we had around. The pump has rubber foot mounts on it to handle the vibes and noise. All the rest is just slapping it all together.

The regulator for the ARB air was purchased a Lowes for 19 bucks, the hose was 19 and the various brass fittings were 17. The on off switch was 2 dollars and 49 cents for the rubber boot....LOL

I am very happy with the way it works. It will run an air tools, air up tires and now will run my ARB's. I had a CO2 setup for about a year and it is nice to have something in place that I don't have go have have refilled.

Air tank, 3 gallons, 3 port.

460C, the grey box is the ViAir pressure switch, the guage belongs to the regulator for my ARB's. You can see the various brass fittings and hose.

I have a one inch body lift so the hose was really easy to run. I run a connection up front and us the one off the tank for the rear. With the tank I can cycle my ARB's about 50 times before the compressor kicks on to fill up again.

I am very happy with the install and really had no idea OBA could be so easy and cheap. You buy 3 pieces (Tank, compressor and switch) and the rest is all collected localy. This is a very quick and easy way to have a air while on the trail. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me with questions....
